'The Gateway to the Universe'
The Karoo Hoogland is an area where the ancient, fossilised origins of the earth collide with the latest in astronomical technology. It is said that time is in the stones and this is certainly true for the Karoo Hoogland region. Therapsids regarded to be the one of the earliest land animals, even before dinosaurs that once roamed this area, leaving their tracks in the mudstone. Elsewhere visitors still find the scattered, but fossiled, remains of these magnificent beasts, believed through archaeological evidence to indicate that species such as the Diictoton and Bradysaurus once lived in this area.
